Buzz Worthy Events

Uptown Christmas Walk in Marysville Uptown Square (November 30 from 5-8 pm) Santa visit, live reindeer, dance performers, stilt walker, balloon artist, horse-drawn carriage rides and Christmas Tree Lighting.

Country Christmas at Marmon Valley (December 4 & 5, December 11 & 12) Take a 45 minute ride on a covered wagon while watching 5 mini dramas about events from the Bible.  Other things to enjoy: pony rides, petting animals, take a ride on the horse drawn caroling wagon to select a fresh cut Christmas tree.

Santa in the Caboose at Hilliard Historical Society (December 13 from 3:00-6:00 pm) FREE Experience what it was like to live in the past.  Take photos with Santa in his suit from the 1800’s while in a caboose, listen to music, enjoy the complimentary refreshments, coloring activities and more.

Holly Days in Historic Dublin (December 5 from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm) The fire department will have a fire truck in the parking lot of the library collecting items for Toys For Tots, meet Mr. & Mrs. Claus in La Chatelaine for pictures, hot chocolate stations, free trolly rides, music and more.

Holiday in the Village presented by the Shawnee Hills Chamber of Commerce (December 6 from noon to 4 pm) FREE hayrides with Rudolph and other characters, Santa at Cedarbrook and Straders Garden Center, handcrafted items for sale and FREE trolley rides between Cedarbrook and Straders.

Village Lights presented by Schmidt’s in German Village (Sunday, December 6 from 5-9 pm) FREE: Visit the historic streets of German Village to discover a world of lights and holiday magic.   Follow the luminaries from shop to shop as you start your shopping. Find unique experiences along the way! Our businesses are open late with holiday specials and you’ll find festive surprises around every corner. Grab a shuttle van to and from parking at the north and south ends of the Village. This map is your guide to the event German Village Event.

Parades

Delaware Holiday Parade (November 22 at 3 pm) Starts at Mingo Park in Delaware, Ohio and continues South on Sandusky Street to OWU.

Santa Parade in Johnstown (December 5 from 10 am – 11 am) Parade starts at the high school and ends at town square.

Westerville Children’s Christmas Parade (December 6 at 1:45 pm) Brooksedge Blvd to Schrock Road to State Route 3

Marysville Christmas Parade in Uptown Square (December 6 at 2 pm) Watch floats and bands stroll down the streets.

Nature

A Holiday Evening on the Farm at Gallant Farms (December 5 from 6-8 pm) Live Christmas music, roast chestnuts over the fire, cookies and make holiday decorations.  FREE

Christmas with the Critters (December 30 from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm) Observe the animals and make a craft.  $5 per person at the door or free with a donated item off of their wish list. (3 and under free)

Slate Run Historical Farm (There are a lot of Thanksgiving and Christmas themed events throughout November and December.  Use the link to see the complete schedule.  Here’s a few ideas: ‘Tis the Season, story time, indoor amusements, sweet treats.  Events during the week and weekend.

Cackler Farms (Delaware, Ohio)

Dale Tree Farm (Sunbury, Ohio) Weather permitting take a wagon ride out to cut your tree

Mr. Tree Farm (Blacklick, Ohio) Cut your own tree or purchase a pre-cut tree.  On weekends there is a hay ride out to the field, petting zoo and Santa’s workshop.

Timbuk Farms (Granville, Ohio) Cut your own tree, Timbuk lodge to see Santa & Mrs. Claus and a cafe.

Young’s Jersey Dairy (Yellow Springs, Ohio) Cut your own tree on this 30 acre farm.  The food is good and the ice cream is super tasty!  🙂 * Close to the legendary Clifton Mill Christmas Lights so this would make a nice day trip.

Oakland Nurseries often have ones that have already been cut.

Library Events

All Aboard the Polar Express at the Hilliard Library (December 4 from 7:00-8:30 pm) Stories, caroling, crafts and treats.  Free tickets are required.

Santa Visit at the Grandview Heights Library (December 5 from 11 am – 12 pm) Free photos and holiday craft.

Holiday Concert at Upper Arlington Main Library (December 10 from 7 pm – 8 pm) Jazz keyboardist Eric Augis and jazz vocalist Kelly McLennan perform holiday classics.

Polar Express at the Gahanna Library (December 11 from 7:00-8:30 pm) Stories, caroling, crafts and treats.  Free tickets are required.

Christmas at the Movies at Upper Arlington Main Library (December 13 from 1:30-4:30 pm) Bring a snack and view holiday movies.

Businesses

Oakland Nursery (November 28-December 20 on Saturdays and Sundays) Each location has different events so check with each store for their activities.  Some things you may expect are: horse drawn carriage rides, Santa, visit by a reindeer, live music, food sampling and more.

Holidayville in Clintonville (December 6 from 12-4pm) Hop on and off two trolleys as they take you to various businesses in Clintonville.  Visit Santa at Mozart’s at noon, live entertainment and free cookie decorating.  Businesses compete in a holiday storefront decorating contest where you can vote on the winner by using the hashtag #holidayville2015.

Holiday Herb Craft at the Ohio Herb Education Center in Gahanna (November 28) Open area to make crafts for a small fee.

Swim with Santa at the Westerville Community Center (November 29 6-7:15 pm) Santa joins the fun in the pool as the elves are the lifeguards.  Photos will be emailed to you.  Registration is required.  Parents are free but must be in swimsuits with their children in the water.  Residents $5, Non-Residents $7.50

Christmas Open House at Hanby House (December 1 7-9 pm, December 5-6 from 1:30-4:30 pm) Tour the historic home of Benjamin Hanby (the conductor of “Up on the Housetop”), holiday decorations and refreshments.

Elf Jr. the Musical at Dublin Scioto High School (December 4-6)

Holiday Train Display at the Ohio History Center (Wednesdays-Sundays) View the 1950’s style model train display. Click on the link for hours and pricing.

Holiday Carriage Rides at Easton (weekends from November 20- December 23) Pick up location is right outside of Eddie Bauer on Gramercy Street.  Cost is $10 a person with anyone under 15 free with a paying adult.

Holiday Hoot at Gateway Film Center (December 5: Activities at 10 am, Films at 11 am)  FREE with a canned food donation.  Featuring short films and the Shazzbots for musical entertainment.

Jingle Jam at Worthington Community Center (December 11 from 6:30-8:30 pm) Dance party with a DJ, pictures with Santa (bring your own camera), ice carving, photo booth, arts and crafts.  FREE

Letters to Santa at Ohio Railway Museum (December 12-13 19-20 from 12-4 pm) Santa letters in Post Office car, visit from Mrs. Claus, train rides on the Interurban car and crafts.

The Christmas Story House & Museum (open year round) What a classic movie!  Wouldn’t it be fun to check out the house?!  Located in Cleveland.

 

EnterTRAINment Junction in West Chester, Ohio (Holiday set up begins on November 14th) View the World’s Largest Indoor Interactive Train Display, visit with Mrs. Claus in the kitchen and Santa in his study, A-Maze-N Funhouse and more.  We’ve gone here a few times and it is really great!

Christmas Candlelights at Roscoe Village in Coshocton (December 5, 12, 19 with different tour times) Step back in time to the 1800’s to see what holiday life was like in the past.

Dickens Victorian Village Displays in Cambridge, Ohio (daily until January 2nd) Numerous Dickens scenes (92 of them!) line the streets.  Stroll along to get a feel of life during that time period.  While in the area check out the Guernsey County Courthouse Holiday Music & Light Show.  This light show begins at 5:30 pm and continues throughout the night (9 pm most nights and 11 pm on select nights).

Christmas in Ash Cave at Hocking Hills (December 12 from 5-7 pm) Take a walk to ash cave, visit with Santa, sit around the fire, listen to carolers, sip hot chocolate and decorate the Christmas tree for wildlife.

Holiday Homecoming at The Works (November 27 from 11 am – 3 pm)

Circleville Santa Parade, Holiday Open House and Tree Lighting (November 28- shops open all day, tree parade at 6 pm)

Out of State:

Winter Festival of Lights at Oglebay Resort in West Virgina (November 13, 2015 – January 3, 2016) Lights cover more than 300 acres and a 6 mile drive throughout the resort.  According to AOL Travel this is one of the 10 BEST Christmas lights displays in the US.

Santa Claus, Indiana (first 3 weekends in December) Various events take place in this town named Santa Claus

Winter Wonderlane at the Galt House Hotel in Kentucky (November 19 – December 27) Santa Claus breakfast, Snow Fairy Princess Tea, Pam Tillis Dinner Show, gingerbread house exhibits, interactive games and exhibits, kiddie train and more.

Lights Under Louisville at Mega Cavern It’s the World’s only fully underground drive through light show.  You drive your car through a cavern to see over 850 light displays.  Doesn’t that sound so cool? (Daily November 20, 2015 – January 3, 2016)

HersheyPark Christmas Candylane in Pennsylvania (begins November 13) 4 million twinkling lights, rides, Santa and live reindeer, ice skating rink and holiday themed entertainment.
