As a child my favorite episode on Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood was when they visited the crayon factory. I loved watching the behind the scenes tour as the machines quickly produced one of my favorite items. Can you believe they’ve been around for over 100 years? I bet it would be awfully hard to find anyone who hasn’t used Crayola products!
We recently visited Crayola Experience in Easton, Pennsylvania (about 90 minutes from Philadelphia). There were 25 hands on exhibits to let your creativity shine. My favorite station was Be a Star where you selected a background, inserted a photo of yourself into the background and then printed out your masterpiece. Here’s my rock star creation:
My children enjoyed the stations that involved melting crayons. One station allowed you to melt two crayons together to make a cool drip art collage. At the Melt & Mold station you were given a crayon to insert into a machine that would turn your crayon into a molded keepsake. My daughter loved making rings!
Today, July 1, 2015 marks opening day for Crayola Experience in Orlando. This will be another fun activity in the Orlando area and great for any rainy or cold days.

This looks like fun! We visited a Crayola in Kansas City a few years ago with our oldest. We should probably put it on our list to take the other two kids.
The website doesn’t mention a location in Kansas City so I wonder if it is something different. I’ll have to look into it because I’m always up for an adventure! I think your kiddos would enjoy the Crayola Experience!
I’ve never been to the Crayola Experience in Pennsylvania but have friends who’ve gone. We live about an hour and a half from Orlando and I hadn’t heard it was opening there too. So fun to know! We’ll have to make a day of it. 🙂
Nataile- I haven’t been to the Orlando location yet but the PA spot kept my kiddos entertained for several hours and that is always a win for me. It’s perfect for a rainy day or a super hot Florida day. Hope you make it and enjoy the experience. 🙂
The kids and I just saw that episode on Netlfix! This sounds like a fun place to visit.
